This bruiser is a Gaboon viper, rippling with muscles, it weighs up to 25 pounds. Its geometric markings mimic fallen leaves, the perfect disguise for an ambush hunt. The Gaboon viper installs itself near a prey trail and lies totally still, often for weeks at a time, conserving its energy. It’s armed with thousands of vibration sensors, allowing the Viper to tell the difference between approaching danger, and approaching dinner. Its two inch long fangs is the longest in the snake world, pump the Rat full of venom. But then it lets its victim go…

It’s all part of the plan, the rat is doomed. The viper’s cytotoxic Venom is already working disrupting cells and destroying tissue. As the rat tries to escape, its organs are shutting down. Why waste energy and risk injury wrestling with a dying rat when you can wait and follow the smell of your own venom. Once its prey is unconscious the snake enjoys its meal in peace. A highly elastic ligament connects its lower jaw to the skull allowing it to ingest animals wider than its own head. Its huge fangs help claw the rat down its throat. It’s still working, breaking down the rat’s body helping to pre-digest the Viper’s meal.
